Rodents can be sneaky, and by the time you notice their presence, the infestation may already be significant. However, early detection can help prevent a full-blown problem. Here's how to spot the early signs of a rodent infestation and how PillarWorks can help prevent them from entering your home.

1. Droppings

One of the most obvious signs of a rodent infestation is finding droppings around your home. Rodent droppings are small, dark, and cylindrical. If you see droppings in your kitchen, pantry, or other areas where food is stored, it’s a red flag.

2. Gnaw Marks

Rats and mice have sharp teeth that grow continuously, so they gnaw on materials like wood, wires, and even plastic to keep their teeth from overgrowing. Look for gnaw marks on furniture, electrical wires, and stored food containers.

3. Grease Marks

As rodents move along walls or baseboards, they leave behind grease marks. This is caused by the oils in their fur rubbing against surfaces as they travel. These marks are often a sign of a well-established infestation.

4. Scratching Noises

If you hear scratching or scurrying noises coming from walls, ceilings, or your attic, there’s a good chance you’ve got rodents in your home. They are most active at night, so these noises may be more noticeable after dark.

5. Unexplained Odors

Rodents leave behind a distinctive odor, which is often described as musky or urine-like. If you smell something unusual in your home, especially in hidden areas like the attic or crawl space, it could be a sign of a rodent infestation.

How PillarWorks Helps

At PillarWorks, we don’t just react to infestations; we focus on prevention. We use exclusion methods to seal up entry points where rodents could be getting inside. We also inspect your attic and crawl space for signs of contamination, ensuring your home stays rodent-free. Our goal is to keep pests out before they even have a chance to enter.
